Homemade Chicken and Waffles

WHAT'S NEEDED
HOW TO MAKE
    Fried Chicken
  • 1 chicken, whole and cut into wing, thigh, breast, and leg
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup Cholula® Original Hot Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 cups canola oil
  • 1 Granny Smith Apple, thinly chiffonade
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Waffles
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • dash of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon thyme

    Fried Chicken

    Mix together the buttermilk, 1/4 cup Cholula Original Hot Sauce, and 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning. Place the chicken in the marinade for 6-8 hours .

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees

    Mix together the flour and remaining Old Bay seasoning.

    Place the chicken in the flour mixture and mix well, making sure to evenly coat. Let sit for 15 minutes.

    Place the chicken on a pan and cook in the oven for 15 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees.

  • Waffles

    In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

    In a separate bowl, mix together the the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and thyme
  • 3
    Combine wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until well incorporated
  • 4
    Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to the manufacturer's directions

    Top waffles with one to two pieces of fried chicken.

    Mix apples, parsley, and lemon juice and place on top or next to the fried chicken. Drizzle remaining Cholula on the chicken and waffles.
